Community Presbyterian Church

Dear CPC Family:

Most of you are aware that on the evening of June 18, The home of Gary Anderson (our Student Ministries Director) and his family burned down with a near total loss of all their belongings. They have renter’s insurance which will provide replacement coverage for some, but not all of what was lost. Many have asked how they might help. Please read this information as well as a letter from the Andersons with more information, if you would like to help this family:

> If you want to provide financial assistance, the checks need to be made out directly to Gary Anderson and not to CPC. You may put your check for Gary in the offering plate, or mail it to Gary Anderson c/o Community Presbyterian Church at: 1555 Poli St., Ventura, CA 93001
Note: The IRS does not allow this type of gift as a tax deduction.
Note: Under the non-profit laws, CPC is not legally able to pass through monetary gifts made out to CPC from congregants which are designated for a specific individual.

> Deacons will provide benevolent assistance to the Andersons in an amount that is in keeping with other assistance they typically give to members. If you would like to support the Deacons in this endeavor you may designate a gift to the Deacon Fund, understanding that every dollar you designate may not go to the Andersons.

Dear Church Family,
We would like to thank everyone in our church family for the immediate and loving response to our need for food, clothing, and housing due to the fire that consumed our home and car.  Everyone is safe and uninjured and we were a bit relieved that we didn’t have to have our planned garage sale that weekend. We are following several leads for a new place to live, knowing God is providing for us every step of the way.  So many of you have been asking what you can do to help, which we appreciate so much:

> Prayer for Gary and Tami as we help each child process their feelings and embrace this new adventure.  Isaac (15), Tatiana (14), Beatriz (13), and Caleb (10).
> We have set up a gift registry at Target (click here for a direct link: Anderson Family Target Registry)
so it will be easy to determine what we need and what has been provided. Whether someone purchases or gives one of these needs, we will check it off in the registry so it will be easy to know whether or not we are still in need.
> Financial help for renting or purchasing a home. In the few months prior to the fire, our family has been searching for a home to purchase.  This will help our family not have to be in temporary  housing for a long period of time.
> For those who are offering furniture or other big items, Lisa Polzien (949-584-8033) and Debora Rock (515-450-3433) have offered to keep a list of people and items available, so that we can call when we have a home in which to put them.

We will keep you updated through the church bulletin, the church website, and our family blogsite:

God’s great love and blessings to you all,
Gary and Tami Anderson and Family
