Proclaiming Jesus as Lord
(The Acts of the Apostles)
Course instructor: Jim McClurkin
As the band of 120 disciples of Jesus received marching orders from the resurrected Jesus, they were promised that they would receive power from the Holy Spirit and would then be witnesses or proclaimers of the Lord Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). From chapter 1, where this Great Commission is recorded, right up to the end of the book, the great activity that dominates this book is evangelism through proclaiming Jesus as Lord and Christ.
But the power the disciples needed to carry out this mission of evangelism was the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.
The focus of this course will be upon how the early church in Acts proclaimed the Lordship of Christ, both in the content of its message and by the empowering of the Holy Spirit, and then how we, as members of the church of Christ, can also be Holy Spirit driven proclaimers of our Lord Jesus.
