Off-Site: An Overview

The OffSite Project grows directly out of our desire to bring the church to the city. This is our intentional response to Jesus’ call to be his witnesses not only on our church campus but in the larger Ventura community beyond our walls, our own “Judea and Samaria.”

Shaping this part of our vision are some simple truths. First, we are commanded to go out. It is not sufficient for the church to merely wait for people to come to us.  We must go out.  Second, Jesus is worth knowing. We have been changed by the living presence of Jesus and found this gift is worth more, delivers more, effects more, and means more than anything and everything else in this world. To miss this life and the Savior who initiates, builds, and deepens it is to miss life itself.  Third, our community is worth the cost and labor involved in bringing the good news of God’s love from the church to the “Judea and Samaria” that surrounds us.

So how do we reach our community?  The best way is through honest, loving, helpful relationships. The people of CPC have strong faith and a strong sense of caring.  Our desire is to train, encourage, and equip the people of CPC to practice works, outreach and service that flow from their own hearts and the Spirit’s leading.  One method to facilitate this would be to establish grants which are designed to equip members within our congregation for ministry and provide opportunities to move out in response to God’s call.  As a church we will provide finances, training and encouragement for people to be Christ’s witnesses in their Judea and Samaria.  Grants for specific projects will be provided based on a formal application process with clear accountability.  our desire is to allow individual members of CPC to find where God would have them serve and begin to help empower them in that service.

Other methods and opportunities will grow from all this.  Our vision is to see “experts” within the congregation lead, encourage and train others within the congregation to reach our city and love the people of this city in the image of Jesus.  And to see others pick up the vision to go out and see how God works in and through them.  We long to build a body of people who are not only going out in obedience to God’s call and anointing, but are inspiring and training others to do similar tings.  Our vision is to see this expand across the church as more and more within our church family receive a call to go out as a witness, in their own way, in their own setting and in the process bring praise to God an excitement to his people.  As we all learn and grow in this we will explore other ways to go to the people and love and lead them as the Lord has commanded us.  It is an exciting journey and one that is filled with blessings, hope and joy as we all take up the call to go out to Judea and Samaria with the message of God’s grace.
