We Need Your Help!
The Lord, through a previous generation, has blessed us with an amazingly beautiful Sanctuary complete with
exquisite stained glass windows.
The lower, larger windows were installed in 1929 and are in the classic Tiffany style. Judson Studios installed the upper windows in 1962.
Stained glass can last hundreds of years but the lead will last a maximum of 75 years. Unfortunately, our windows are deteriorating and need to be re-leaded.
Wanting to be good stewards of this beautiful facility, the
Finance and Property Team have conducted an assessment of the condition of all of the windows and are attempting to address the most serious of the deterioration problems.
You may have noticed over the past couple of years we have been slowly refurbishing a few of the upper windows that were in the worst condition.
Four of twenty-two windows have now been completed and reinstalled and four others have been removed and are currently undergoing the preservation and re-leading process. We expect to be able to reinstall these four windows in November of 2012.
The cost of refurbishing each of the smaller windows is approximately $12,000 and in a time of limited budgets, we are struggling to continue the process.
Many of you love the beauty of this Sanctuary and the stained glass windows and would hope to see them preserved for future generations.
Some of the ways in which you can help to ensure the longevity of our beautiful stained glass windows are...
- In addition to your normal offering, please consider donating to our "Building Fund" the funds for the stained glass preservation come from that fund. If you would like to, you can specify that your donation goes directly to the stained glass windows preservation project.
- Would you consider adding Community Presbyterian Church to your Last Will and Testament specifying, “The Refurbishment of the CPC Sanctuary and Stained Glass Windows.” to your bequest? Although this would not necessarily provide the immediate funds to refurbish our stained glass windows; over time this would help us maintain these beautiful windows for our next generation to enjoy.
Thank You,
The Property and Finance Team
