On January 31, 1869 a meeting was held in the schoolhouse and ten people became charter members of the Presbyterian Church of San Buenaventura. (Our church is the oldest Presbyterian church in continuous service in Southern California.) Take a few minutes to learn about the heritage of our church by reading the pamphlet in the pew and visiting the front entrance foyer and learning about CPC’s history from the photos on display. Our Heritage Booklet is another great way to take a closer look at the history of CPC.

150 Years of CPC Ventura

Grace & Favor

During the weekend of February 9-11, 2019 we celebrated the 150th anniversary of our founding.  A number of activities were planned—all with the purpose of celebrating what God has done in, with and through Community Presbyterian Church over the last one hundred and fifty years.

Be sure to have a look at our 150th Anniversary Memory Book.

It includes many favorite memories from our CPC members, some historic church images and pictures of members who have been at CPC for 40 years or more.

The History of CPC in Hobson Heights

CPC has been an important part of the Hobson Heights community since it was constructed in 1929.

CPC SANCTUARY RESTORATION

The video shows work done during a 5 week period several years ago to restore the historic sanctuary of CPC. Originally built in 1929 a lot of dust and damage had accumulated over the years. There was also a fire in the attic that nearly destroyed the building.

The stained glass windows have also been undergoing a restoration process.

It’s a beautiful sanctuary that adds to the history and classic Spanish architecture of Ventura.
